E R Hemmings (Building) established in 1970, and as a result of its success by the mid eighties it achieved its first £1m turnover. With the introduction of a new Management Team the company secured larger sized contracts enabling continuous growth and expansion.

This initial management team orchestrated the introduction of the Company’s operational systems, for both building and civil engineering, some of which are still in use today. One of these systems, for Health & Safety, has enabled us to maintain an excellent safety record and we were one of the first construction companies to adopt a professional approach to Health & Safety by engaging the services of external Safety Consultants. 

It was during this growth period that the Company began to concentrate on improved workmanship and as a result started to award apprenticeships to Bristol citizens, we are proud of our origins and some personnel have been with us in excess of 20 years.
 
The success of E R Hemmings (Building) lead to it becoming a Private Limited Company in 1990 and today the company continues to achieve steady continuous growth with the intention to create further opportunities and career moves.

To reach our aim of continuous improvement, delivering improved service to meet our customer needs and requirements, we monitor our performance, based on industry guidelines, through the use of Key Performance Indicators. Also in association with the National Federation of Builders, together with the Construction Best Practice Programme, we are currently one of only 10 Contractors undertaking their pilot Benchmarking programme.

This approach, combined with the company’s reputation for completing contracts on time, within budget and to the desired quality with the minimum of disruption, has resulted in continued growth and expansion into the future.
